Academic procrastination refers to the tendency to delay the completion of academic tasks, which may adversely affect students’ psychological well-being and mental health. This issue has become increasingly important in higher education, as academic demands often contribute to stress, anxiety, and emotional distress among students. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of procrastination on the mental health of students in the Islamic Education Study Program at Universitas Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational design. A total of 130 students were selected from a population of 192 students using proportionate stratified random sampling based on academic semesters (second, fourth, and sixth semesters). Data were collected through a Google Form-based questionnaire consisting of 10 items measuring procrastination and 10 items measuring mental health. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The findings revealed that procrastination significantly affects students’ mental health, indicating that higher levels of procrastination are associated with poorer mental health conditions. These findings suggest that strengthening time-management skills, academic support programs, and counseling services is essential to reducing procrastination and promoting students’ psychological well-being in higher education settings.References
