MODERNISASI KURIKULUM DAYAH ACEH
Abstract
The aim of the research is to analyze the modernization of the curriculum in three Dayah, namely Dayah Mudi Mesra Samalanga, Dayah Darul' Ulum, and Dayah Insan Qur'ani in Aceh Province. This is to help students develop competitive and independent personalities. This research found that Dayah in Aceh has undergone systematic changes to better meet the demands of santri in facing today's challenges. Dayah offers life skills programs, such as carpentry, agriculture, and cattle raising that benefit students' skills. This shows that Dayah has adapted to changing times as a cultural institution by improving its objectives, teaching strategies and assessment tools. The impact of curriculum modernization on learning independence has brought an increase in both the number and quality of students. This empirical reality supports that sincerity and piety must be instilled in a more practical way. Students need to be given life skills that enable them to live independently and participate in social life. These findings reject Moulton's (2008) claim that the intellectual climate in traditional Islamic educational institutions only transmits rules and norms, does not encourage students to challenge Islamic traditions or engage in independent and critical thinking.
