Oral Tafsir and Household Harmony: The Perspective of Faizah Ali Syibromalisi

In the digital age, social media has become a new space for public figures to share their ideas including in the field of Quranic exegesis so that the authority over interpretation, which was previously dominated by male exegetes, has begun to shift with the emergence of female exegetes who are active in the digital public sphere. This study focuses on Faizah Ali Syibromalisi’s oral exegesis regarding the concept of domestic harmony, as presented through the YouTube channel Rumah Quran Amanah, with the aim of uncovering the contribution of women’s oral exegesis to the discourse on contemporary Muslim families. The research method employs a qualitative approach using Gadamer’s hermeneutic analysis, emphasizing the dialogue between text, context, and the interpreter’s experience, with data drawn from Faizah Ali Syibromalisi’s video exegesis content. The results of the study indicate that domestic harmony can be achieved through mutual care, understanding, and emotional self-control whether from one or both partners as well as through the principles of mutual assistance, awareness of rights and obligations, and a spirit of complementarity, which serve as essential foundations for building a harmonious household. The implications of these findings underscore that women’s oral interpretations on social media not only enrich the body of Quranic exegesis but also offer new perspectives relevant to the dynamics of modern Muslim families, in which spouses are positioned as equal partners in the household to strengthen the values of harmony and equality.
