Relasi Suami Istri dalam Islam: Kajian Tafsir tentang Hak dan Kewajiban

Abstract

This study examines the rights and obligations of husband and wife in household life based on the Qur’anic interpretation perspective. The focus of the study lies in the interpretation of Surah An-Nisa verse 19, Surah An-Nisa verse 34, and Surah Al-Baqarah verse 233, which explain the principles of mu‘āsyarah bil ma‘rūf (living together in kindness), the husband’s leadership (qiwāmah), as well as responsibilities in providing sustenance and child care. The research method used is library research with a thematic interpretation approach through the analysis of several classical and contemporary tafsir works. The results show that Islam places the relationship between husband and wife on the principles of balance between rights and obligations, justice, compassion, and responsibility. The husband is obliged to lead, provide for, and guide the family, while the wife is responsible for maintaining honor, obeying in what is right, and participating in child-rearing. This study confirms that household harmony can be achieved when both parties understand and fulfill their rights and obligations in accordance with the teachings of the Qur’an.
