Kajian Living Hadis: Sedekah Sega Langgi Dalam Tradisi Rebo Wekasan Di Desa Jatibarang Kabupaten Brebes

Abstract

This research aims to examine in more depth the implementation of living hadith in the rebo wekasan tradition in Jatibarang village, Brebes district. The method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, documentation and interviews with local religious leaders and elders to find out the procedures for implementing the rebo wekasan tradition. As a multicultural country, the term rebo wekasandi in Indonesia has its own meaning and religious practices for each region. These differences are caused by diverse social and cultural backgrounds. In its implementation, the rebo wekasan in Jatibarang village has its own characteristics, namely the Sega Langgi almsgiving on the morning of the last Wednesday of the month of Safar on the Hijri calendar. The meaning of Sega Langgi alms is apart from being a form of getting closer to Allah, it is also an effort to maintain good relations between Muslims and an effort to repel reinforcements, because people believe that on this Wednesday Allah will send as many as 32,000 disaster reinforcements. Before the Sega Langgi alms ritual is carried out, local clerics first urge their residents to perform the lidaf'il bala prayer together. This research also reveals the concept of living hadith regarding the virtue of almsgiving as a practice of rejecting evil and prolonging life. In this way, the traditions preserved by the community to this day apparently have a strong religious foundation so that they not only preserve local culture but also carry out practices in accordance with religious sharia as taught by the Prophet Muhammad.
