Abstract

Indonesian is the national language used to communicate. However, the existence of slang can threaten a shift in the use of Indonesian properly and correctly. Given these problems, the authors conducted research on the influence of slang on children's language during the pandemic. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method which is carried out by means of literature studies and surveys of a population of 20 children and a sample of 15 children and primary data collection using indirect observation techniques. The results obtained are in the form of prevention from the influence of slang on children's language during a pandemic. From the results of this study, the authors draw the conclusion that children use slang more often than Indonesian, which will result in language shifts and Indonesian being forgotten.
