Tinjauan Fatwa DSN-MUI No 44/DSN-MUI/VIII/2004 Terhadap Akad Ijarah Multijasa Dalam Pembiayaan Pernikahan

The high cost of wedding ceremonies is one of the factors causing some individuals to postpone or feel unprepared for marriage. This condition arises because marriage is often perceived as a significant life event that is expected to be celebrated lavishly, requiring substantial financial resources. To address this constraint, Islamic financial institutions offer wedding financing through the ijarah multijasa contract. This article aims to analyze the implementation of the ijarah multijasa contract in wedding financing and assess its compliance with Fatwa Number 44 of 2004 issued by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Council of Ulama concerning Multiservice Financing. This study employs a qualitative method using a case study design and a normative approach. The findings indicate that the Baitul Maal wa Tamwil applies an ijarah contract in which the institution acts as a service provider for customers seeking wedding financing. In practice, the institution enters into lease transactions with service providers, while customers do not receive cash directly because payments are made on their behalf under an authorized arrangement. The findings further reveal that the financing practice complies with the provisions stipulated in the fatwa. These findings reinforce the legitimacy of ijarah multijasa as a Sharia-compliant alternative for wedding financing.
