Waqf is a binding Islamic legal institution that, in principle, cannot be revoked once its legal and religious requirements have been fulfilled. Nevertheless, disputes concerning the validity of waqf assets continue to emerge, particularly when discrepancies arise between the waqif’s declaration and officially documented waqf records. This study aims to analyze the legal reasoning of the panel of judges in Jakarta Religious High Court Decision No. 122/Pdt.G/2024/PTA.JK and to assess the validity of the waqf pledge from the perspectives of Islamic law and Indonesian positive law. Using a qualitative method with a normative juridical approach and a case study design, data were collected through document analysis and interviews with a judge of the Jakarta Religious High Court. The findings reveal that the court treated the Waqf Pledge Deed (Akta Ikrar Wakaf) as the primary legal basis for determining the validity and extent of waqf assets. Consequently, only the land explicitly recorded in the deed was recognized as valid waqf property, while the remaining land was restored to the waqif. The decision demonstrates the decisive role of formal legal documentation in establishing legal certainty and safeguarding property rights. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening administrative compliance and waqf documentation to enhance legal protection, institutional accountability, and dispute prevention.
