Islamic investment in Indonesia has exhibited a positive growth trend; however, the assets under management of the mutual fund industry experienced significant fluctuations throughout 2023. This condition indicates that investment preferences are influenced by various factors, including investors’ understanding of Sharia regulations governing investment activities. In this context, the Fatwa of the Dewan Syariah Nasional Majelis Ulama Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Investment in Sharia Mutual Funds serves as an essential regulatory framework to ensure compliance with Islamic principles. This study aims to examine the influence of the fatwa on public preferences for investing in Sharia mutual funds through the Bibit platform. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method and descriptive statistical analysis. The findings reveal that i) respondents possess a strong understanding of the regulations established by the Dewan Syariah Nasional Majelis Ulama Indonesia regarding Sharia mutual fund investments; and ii) the fatwa demonstrates a strong positive and significant relationship with investment interest in Sharia mutual funds, as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.608 and a significance value of 0.001. The findings imply that strengthening literacy regarding Sharia fatwas and regulations can enhance public trust and investment interest in Sharia-compliant financial instruments, thereby supporting the sustainable growth of the Islamic mutual fund industry.
